Bagel Chips

I teach cooking as part of my teaching job to three classes of students. The irony of this is huge as I am a beginner cook and only enjoy it when I have time and the urge. So, this class has stretched me, particularly in the search for recipes that work with these students. It is worthwhile however, due to how much the students love the class ( or perhaps the eating!) Yesterday I had a healthy snack theme that included learning to cut an apple and making caramel sauce, ants on a log ( celery with peanut butter and raisins), and bagel chips. The bagel chips were simply cut up bagels with cream cheese on it, nicely toasted in the oven, so basically a toasted bagel. When you add the word "chip" to a recipe, interest skyrockets at this level! The students were excellent through out the class and at the end of one period, a boy came up to me and annouced that the bagel chips were the best thing he had ever made. Joy by a bagel chip! That is what life it about.
