The Chocolate Festival, a Giant Colon, and a Walk: Our Weekend

So I have had a few new experiences to share. The first being that Stephen and I attended our town's infamous chocolate festival on Saturday and were pleasantly surprised. As more chocolate as you can eat, over 2000 people there, raising money for an organization that helps people with disbabilities transitions after high school and assists them in adulthood. ( very applicable to my course I must add) And on a very exciting note, my cooking classes entered the cooking category and I am pleased to announce that we won third! I was thrilled! I am excited to present this very official plaque tomorrow to hang on the kitchen wall. For those of you wanting to try a prize winning recipe, check out http://www.eaglebrand.com/detail.asp?rid=162 and try the chocolate truffles.

And on the note of another new experiences, my class went on a field trip to the mall on Friday to crawl through a giant colon! Yes, I am talking about the body part! You can imagine me the hour prior, trying to prep kids on what a colon was and the importance of it. There was also a talk about there being no need for poop jokes or gagging sounds. And so we were off and it was indeed a huge plastic colon that had models of colon disease in the inside. Very important for colon awareness no doubt, but I would have loved to hear the questions from parents after. "You went through what?" And I kidd you not, as we were crawling through the colon, one girl yelled to a boy who had stopped, "keep going or we will get clogged!" If you are interested in verifying that there is indeed a giant colon or just want to check it out, go to http://www.preventcancer.org/colossalcolon/

And lastly, we went for an amazing walk in a park today. As it snowed last night and was not at all windy, the snow was amazing. I will put the website on but I can't find any pictures of it in the winter but if you come visit us in the summer, this is what to expect. Stephen saw lots of birds which was great for him and I felt very relaxed. http://www.browncountystatepark.com/yellowwood/forest.html
