Right At This Exact Moment

Right at this exact moment I am sitting at our green desk, still wearing my teaching clothes. I am teaching three weeks of a summer academy at our school and have 8 more days left. My cat Sam is stretched out beside the MAC in a way where he is trying to make his body as long as possible, often reminding me of one of those homemade wiener dog draft stoppers some people put in front of a crack under a door. He is content to bat at the blueberries that I have in a bowl beside me. He looks proudly when he gets one out onto the desk.

I am trying to unwind but can not help but think of the field trip I am going to tomorrow which includes a trip to the county fair and then a lunch visit to a all-you-can-eat buffet place. How reflective of where I am! Stephen is at a History of Biology conference where he is working the registration tables and then going to the banquet. He will attend seminars until Sunday off and on and I believe he is getting paid with a grant to assist in other aspects.

The wind in blowing tonight and it has rained sporadically which is a nice relief from the intense heat and humidity. However, this may interfere with our nightly rollerblading routine. Last night we saw a hummingbird as we bladed but failed to see this other "regular" on the trail. He is an older man who wears Christian T-Shirts. The observations will cadmium on motive ( exercise or evangelical purposes for being on the trail?), how many shirts he owns (only two in rotation at this point), and if he is there most nights.

They have brought a 17 year old boy in for our recent sniper shootings. It was a huge deal as Indiana was involved in the huge sniper incident that took place a few years ago. Luckily in this case only one person was killed and another was injured. They say a possible reason was simply that he was mad after the boy got in a fight with friends on a hunting trip while they were gutting a deer. Again, perhaps reflective on where we are. Anyways, it gripped the state and there was huge fear the sniper would continue but he has been brought in. He looked sad, insecure, and uncomfortable on the TV. Makes you wonder what his story is.

Sam has shifted positions and I must now move on to dessert. Have a great night.

ahhh sounds like a relaxing evening and i can totally picture sam as long as he can get.
I also heard about the sniper, a little crazy but its good they found a suspect and hopefully saved the state from craziness. Would be interesting however working with these people like the 17yr old and if possible get into his world. Well take care babe.
