This Fall I am doing my Masters full time (will complete it in April). One of the coolest parts to this is a research project that I am part of that has taken me to West Virginia twice already. Last time we were there for five days and we stayed in this great little motel on some farm land. The only picture that I can find if off their website.

My impressions of West Virginia include how beautiful it is, how calm and peaceful it can be (we were far from a big city and I honestly laid awake and listened to cows mooing), how friendly the people were, and how important family is to them. I think my thoughts of West Virginia before included the poverty and rural-ness of it, and it is, but that is not all. Since then, I have re-read two books, The Glass Castle and Missing May, which was both set in West Virginia and I felt like I could appreciate them even more. I also know that I would eat a lot of pie if I lived there. The restaurant by our hotel had great homemade pie that was huge, cheap, and amazing!
The study includes working in a preschool program and assessing the difference a certain curriculum is making. It is a huge longitudinal study and I am entering at the back end of it. I am hoping to do some of my own research, perhaps, in this setting as well.
So the weekend is here. I am going to pick up Stephen and then we are meeting two couples at the IU women's volleyball game. Very fun times...we have a new coach so perhaps IU will improve. However, some of the teams we play are amazing! I like to envision that I did some of the moves when we played in the league in Vancouver. I wish :)
Tomorrow we are celebrating a friend's birthday by going to a funky restaurant in Indy called the Jazz kitchen. We are seeing a musician by the name of Charlie Hunter perform. Have a great weekend!
