New Book Selection: Criss Cross

My new book buy is the 2006 Newberry Award Medal Winner ( best young adult fiction of the year). It is entitled Criss Cross by Lynne Rae Perkins. I am now one hundred and six pages in and am really enjoying the easiness that I am reading it at and the multi-story approach the author takes. In a nut shell I think it will be about people finding their place in life. It should be good though because I have read many of the winners and have rarely been disappointed.

On an unrelated note, I received an invitation in the mail to a dear Capernwray friend's (Jen Boelig) wedding today. I am going to attached a picture of me holding it because it is one of the nicest invitations I have seen. I do not think the pictures does it justice at all. They have even included this cool mounted picture of themselves separate from the invitation that you can keep, hang up, etc. I remember how long invitations take and have again been reminded from the process my brother and soon sister-in-law are going through now. Anyways, very cute and we are honored to be invited.

I love new books! We pretty much have a book club going on here and I love it! I'm in the middle of 'Memoirs of a Geisha' (from Chryslyn) and its awesome. I'll for sure add Criss Cross to my to-read list! You didn't let me down with The Glass Castle!

I am glad that Stephen's recipe inspired you. It has now gone through some revisions as the word "meatloaf: did not sit well as an adjective for his burger. I saw your recipes on your blog...you guys have a flair for cooking!

And I love the Giver. It was read aloud to me in grade 7 or 8 and has stuck with me. I know that author has just released a new fictional book on dreams.

Amber, just so you know our Blog url is now changed to storiesoncd.blogspot.com
we changed it so our blog has no personal info on us. Like our last name. Just to be safe. I've had a weirdo commenting on my blog lately, so I thought I should be more careful.

Speaking of books. Amber, I read "The Glass Castle". Yes, I actually read it- all. I'm so proud of myself, and I was excited to tell you, however I had to wait until I was finished in case I didn't finish it. I think you need to keep me accountable to read more ADULT literatue, because I really really enjoyed it. Great suggestion!
