Jared the Subway guy was born in Indianapolis. In 1998, he was a student at Indiana University and weighted 425 lbs. He lived in an apartment building next door to a Subway on a common street that we are familiar with. One day while walking by, he noticed the Subway claim to fame that 7 of their subs had 6 grams of fat or less in them.
He decided to eat exclusively Subway and walk to classes instead of taking the bus. His average menu was coffee for breakfast, a six inch turkey with no mayonnaise, cheese but include a bag of Baked Lays and a diet pop for lunch, and then he finished it off with a foot long veggie sub ( no mayonnaise or cheese) for supper. His current weight is 190 lbs and he has spanned his diet to other things but remains true to Subway and eating there regularly. He has since graduated from IU with a management degree, got married, and been very successful with his marketing campaign. The interesting things is that I have met people who have known Jared or gone to high school or IU with him. I would describe him as a quiet claim to fame. Weirdly, when we were doing our apartment hunting we looked at apartments very close to Jared's old home and have eaten at the acclaimed Subway. Something to tell your friends about :)
One funny other tidbit is that I guess people keep going up to Ken Jennings,the guy who won $2.5 million dollars on Jeopardy, and telling him that they are proud of all the weight he has lost. I read about it in an old edition of the Onion and was amused. You can tell people know that he is famous and must reckons him but then are unsure of here and take a stab at him being Jared. For me, it seems like a pretty different look but who knows?

thats really crazy. Indianpolis seems to be a hotspot for interesting people. Did you know that registered pedophiles are suing the city for discrimination, that they are not allowed near children's parks or swimming pools etc.
I heard that today on the news and was a little blown away. Very interesting people out your way.
Firstly, Jared is from Bloomington! But he was born in Indy. You are right though, there are alot of interesting people from here...Mellencamp, Letterman, Orville Redenboker, etc.
Secondly, I have been on the Indiana Sex offender site and could not believe how detailed it is. You can punch your address into it and find out where all the sex offenders are near you, have there picture, where they work, etc. I was thrilled that kind of information was avaliable but also freaked out to know some were near by.
I just know how someone could commit to one restaurant for that long.
I mean, I just don't know how someone could commit to one restaurant for that long. I think I would even get sick of my favorite restaurants.
