Lebanon

Another blog I read (Marc and Kylie) was talking about the current Israel and Lebanon and as I was following its links and reading some of the articles, I happened upon the New York Times website and began reading. The front page had the above picture on it and at first glance I thought about beaches, sun, etc. The caption under the photo told however, how the picturesque pieces of paper floating down are the resulted of Israeli aircraft dropping leaflets to the citizens Tyre, Lebanon, telling them to leave as they are in danger.

I often feel overwhelmed by these kind of current situations. My knowledge is growing in Middle East politics yet when you watch these unfolding events, I really can't help but feel helpless and confused. An article I was reading at Barnes and Noble talked about how it is often easier for people removed to the war to deal with momentary fear and concern but quickly move onto things more graspable, like what to do about a bad haircut or a miniscule problem with the neighbor. Yet as I am driving to work I pass an army recruiting station and in front of the building are about fifteen men doing push ups in unison and you realize how real this really is.
