Fall Weekend Ahead

Loving the weather as it is a bit cold, breezy, but sunny. The leaves are changing as you can see from my pictures. I find it a good past time to take pictures when we are hiking as Stephen is fast on the pursuit of a new and exciting sparrow.

I had a great teaching day today. Do not think that because I fail to post about these that much that these are rare. The blog seems in a different sphere then my professional life. However, as I have just got home, I was reflecting on the day and have experienced the self-affirming thought," Yes I taught today and they learned and I loved it." Positive standardized marks for reading have come in and I felt so encouraged by some of the improvements. Kids were funny and nice to be around with and I loved teaching basketball today in PE. New discovery...no knowledge of the word pylon here. I guess this is Canadian? I say, "Everyone behind the pylon." Nobody moves. A little louder I say," Behind the pylon, now!" Confused faces until I point. Sure enough, it is referred to as "cone" here. I could make a crack about the real sophistication of that. I am also not sure how we have avoided this realization as we use the pylons every PE class. (Side note: Spell check wants me to change it and does not reckons this word...am I going crazy?)

So a little Masters, a lot of report cards, and some serious rest and relaxations are on the plate for this weekend. It is also that time again, Scholastic Book Order call in! So geeky but I love getting new books for the classroom. Have a great weekend!

Well learning new things every day. Cones vs pylons. I think pylon is much more sophisticated. But sometimes simple is good...
